Parents donate Nikhil’s eyes

Bhubaneswer: The rising waters of the Kuakhai river, which ravaged Orissa’s Rasulgarh, led to the death of Nikhil Nayak, a Plus-II student of Bhubaneswar’s Jaydev College. The fire brigade reached in 15 minutes but could find no trace of him. Five hours later, his body was found tangled in a bush, about half a kilometer downstream.

In the hour of their worst emotional crisis, Nikhil’s parents found a way of giving hope — to someone else. They decided to donate his eyes. “I want him to remain alive through somebody’s eyes. He will still see dreams,” Nikhil’s father said.
